Dunes of Io is where space travel, heart and mind collide. The music of Dunes of Io is a dense field of synthesizer-driven ambient soundscapes, derived from real-time space data which drive my own Synth and FX plugins CUPOLA, DISTAL and OORT. DOI is warm and spacious in the knowledge of cosmic serenity and peril.
Influences and Aspirations
While drawing inspiration from ambient pioneers like Brian Eno, I was fundamentally inspired by my grandmother Kathleen McKone, who played piano in such a dreamy, slow style that it mesmerised me. God rest her soul.
Vision and Values
I believe in the power of music for mental health, whether creator or listener. Music is existence.
